Why We Love It

The Démon Shelf, or the Biblio-Démon as it is listed in Mategot’s old sketches, was part of a “plan d’execution de la bibliothèque” - the model of an interior home library and study. The modular shelving system, designed in 1954 by Mathieu Matégot, can be applied in multiple ways suited for all homes and spaces where that extra dimension of aesthetics for wall storage is sought for.

  • The Démon Modular Shelving System, designed by Mathieu Matégot in the years 1952-1954, is a beautiful and timeless design.
  • Consisting of black painted metal brackets and one, three, four or five shelves, which are available in four different lengths, it is possible to combine a number of different systems.
  • Black powder-coated steel brackets (gloss 30).
  • Veneer shelves in natural walnut, natural oak or black-stained oak with a semi-matte lacquered finish.
  • If out of stock, lead times for special order items may vary depending on availability – contact us for details.
