Why We Love It

Nova Sea Chair is characterized by its light elegant shape and metal frames, a sustainable chair reimagined in ocean plastic waste, supporting innovative solutions preventing pollution of the world’s oceans. The chair fits both private and commercial spaces and comes with and without armrests and upholstery.

  • Nova Sea Chair supports the reduction of plastic waste thus contributing to the UN SDGs: “Responsible Consumption and Production” (SDG 12) protecting “Life below water” (SDG 14), supporting “Partnership for the Goals” (SDG 17) and “Climate Action” (SDG 13).
  • Designed for disassembly, meaning that the design allows each component in its purest form to recycle into new production circles.
  • Old fishing nets from the ocean are collected, washed, shredded and made into pellets, also known as green plastic. Mater uses ocean waste for their outdoor series and injection moulded chairs.
  • Mater's steel is composed of 20% recycled steel. Steel is a strong and light material with the quality that it can be processed in unlimited ways.
  • Mater believes in the importance of transparency. By doing Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) on their furniture, they can analyze the total climate emission for each of our product’s lifespan.
  • Seat: Shell contains 96% discarded fishing nets and recycled hard plastic.
  • Upholstered seat: Made from 98% recycled consumer polyester waste.
  • Frame: Steel tube, 20% recycled steel, Gunmetal finish.
  • Hard plastic gliders installed as standard.
